Boston Public Library
Archives & Special Collections, 2021. Worked closely with the lead archivist to deliver an ArchivesSpace frontend based on Yale's design. Reconstructed a version of the BiblioCommons footer and applied the BPL's branding. Dramatically simplified the CSS selector specificity and implemented custom icons as a webfont.
Events Filter, 2020. Made on the chief of communications's request for use with mailing lists and partner websites. Caches a copy of the BiblioEvents RSS feed and returns multiple formats such as RSS, iCal, branded and plain HTML, and CSV. Exposes as many useful fields as possible for each format and correctly parses the custom BiblioCommons namespace.
Staff Search, 2019. Drupal module to query an Active Directory forest for staff information in a complex organization. Features include filtering out non-staff employees such as City of Boston colleagues, reconstructing staff portraits from raw binary streams, placing a Block in the sidebar, rendering contact info in a View, calculating Levenshtein distances for imperfect hits using an improved algorithm called Leventhal, and integrating jQuery UI autocomplete.
Omics Tools LLC
BioPHP, 2021. A modular fork of Kenny Pavan's BioPHP library. First written as a standalone implementation of Keoni Gandall's Seqhash algorithm, a component of Timothy Stiles's synthetic biology Go toolkit. Then expanded to a proper PHP library that continues to draw heavy inspiration from (Poly)merase.
BioTorrents.de, 2020. A platform to share biological sequence and medical imaging data. My small business's flagship product is a modified BitTorrent tracker based on the Gazelle framework. Starting from Oppaitime's security-hardened fork, I'm expanding the software to support intensive metadata needs. Work currently done includes bearer token API authentication, Composer dependencies, Twig templates, intelligent Markdown and BBcode text rendering, recursive ArrayObject app config, DOI and HTTP/FTP mirror support, better font rendering, and a responsive frontend.
JSON API Docs, 2020. Comprehensive documentation for BioTorrents.de's JSON API. Also includes an evergreen install guide for the finicky Gazelle framework. Largely unmodified MkDocs instance; the focus here is on technical documentation.
Polypore, 2019. WordPress and WooCommerce site for foraged mushroom products with an earthen lifestyle blog. Securely set up to accept credit card, Bitcoin, and USPS money order payments. Currently under construction with a low priority and fairly serious SEO and monetization intent.
